Fear conquering

I use this exercise to overcome my fears.

In our society today, there are nearly no threats to our lives anymore, but our nervous system still behaves the same way.

More often than not, what we fear is what we actually need to do most.

So, if what I fear is what I should do most, how do I conquer my fear?

I use this process to conquer my fears.

  1. I write down the activity I fear.

  2. I write down the worst outcome if I fail at this activity.

  3. I rate the impact of this outcome on my life from 1 to 10. Where ten is "I die," and one is "I don't feel it."

  4. Then, I write down all the possible outcomes that are more likely to happen.

  5. I rate those also from 1 to 10.

  6. Now, I review all that I have written down.

  7. How bad and how likely is the worst-case scenario (most likely, it is very unlikely and not as bad as I thought).

  8. How bad or even good are the other more likely outcomes?

  9. In most cases, at this point, my fear is gone because I think more realistic about it.

Most of our fears are unrealistic fabrications of our brains.

By writing them down, we pull them into the real world.

Where they loose their power over us.

Go go go conquer your fears!
